How Central Government plunder Haryana

In this article, I am writing about the financial drain of Haryana. Before starting this, I want to glance at the BJP’s last 10 years. Haryana recorded the highest unemployment rate, where the national average unemployment rate is 8.1%, and Haryana’s average unemployment rate is 29.1%. Shockingly, the women’s average unemployment rate is 15%, but in Haryana, it is 64.9%. As per NCRB, Haryana has overtaken big states in terms of comparative crime rate. Haryana ranked second in the country with a murder rate of 3.8. The crime rate of Haryana is two and a half times higher than a big state like UP. As this article is about the financial drain, I am not covering drugs, farmer issues, and mass foreign migration here.

GST Collection from Haryana -

In April, the Haryana government collected ₹12,100 crore in GST (PIB Report). If we take the average monthly collection, it is about ₹10,000 crore per month. As the government romanticizes per capita income as their achievement, let’s consider the per capita GST here. Haryana collects an average of ₹10,000 crore per month in GST revenue. Multiplying this by 12 months and dividing by Haryana’s population, we get ₹60,000 per person yearly GST collection. This means every Haryanvi is paying ₹60,000 yearly as GST. But what do we get in return? Despite this, they still have to pay high prices for electricity bills, house tax, water bills, toll tax for roads, LPG, petrol, etc. Friends, here I mention GST, which everyone pays, not just the rich. Friends, my college fee is ₹15,000 yearly, and I get a great campus, teachers, AC halls, books, etc. As a Haryanvi, I am paying ₹60,000 yearly to the government. What do I get in return? We need to ask the government about this.

Direct Tax from Haryana -

Just like GST, Haryana is also one of the highest contributors of direct taxes to the Indian government. Interestingly, for every ₹100 paid by the people of Haryana as direct tax, they receive only ₹18.6 in return from the central government (Finance Ministry). Can you imagine how fast the growth would be if the direct tax paid by Haryana was used solely for Haryana? The growth would achieve five times more, as Haryana gets five times less return than what it pays.

In terms of direct tax, Haryana pays an amount equivalent to the combined direct tax contributions of three European countries—Belgium, Slovenia, and Bosnia. However, it does not have a single city or infrastructure of that standard.

Sports Budget -

In this Olympics, Haryana accounted for 83% of India’s medal tally but interestingly received only 3% of the Khelo India budget. Under the Khelo India scheme, Haryana, with 24 athletes, received ₹67 crore, compared to Uttar Pradesh, which had 6 Olympic athletes and received ₹438 crore, and Gujarat, which had just 2 athletes and received ₹426 crore.

I am not against any state or region. What I want is for the government to rationally distribute the budget and not only distribute it but also be responsible for its effective utilization. Otherwise, incidents like bridges, roads, and even the statue of Shivaji Maharaj breaking will continue to happen. baki to ....
